Assam COVID19

Guwahati, Aug 1: While the central government in its Unlock 3.0 had announced and it has come into effect from August 1, the number of positive cases for COVID19 is increasing in Assam at an alarming rate.

Assam has so far registered 40,269 positive cases for the deadly virus and nearly 26 per cent cases have been reported in the last 7 days.

According to the Assam state health department, in last seven days, the state has reported 10,348 COVID-19 positive cases and it is accounted 25.69 per cent of the total cases detected in the state so far.

The state has registered 1165 cases on July 25, 1142 cases on July 26, 1348 cases on July 27, 1371 cases on July 28, 1348 cases on July 29, 2112 cases on July 30 and 1862 cases on July 31.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, in last 24 hours, the state has reported 1862 positive cases for COVID-19 and out of these, 281 cases have detected in Kamrup (Metro) district, 202 cases in Kamrup (Rural) district, 140 cases in Cachar district, 129 cases in Sonitpur district, 117 cases in Dibrugarh district, 114 cases in Nagaon district, 105 cases in Jorhat district.

He tweeted – “1862 #COVID cases detected out of 38324 tests in 24 hrs. Positivity rate- 4.85%. Kamrup (M): 281 Kamrup (R): 202, Cachar: 140, Sonitpur: 129, D’garh: 117, Nagaon: 114, Jorhat: 105. Total cases 40269, Recovered 29080, Active cases 11088, Deaths 98.

With increasing the COVID-19 positive cases, the state has also witnessed the rise of death cases.

The state health department report stated that, in the last seven days, 21 persons have died due to COVID-19 infections.

In last 24 hours, the state had reported four death cases taking the death toll to 98.

On the other hand, out of the total cases, 30,357 patients have discharged from hospitals in the state so far.

Assam has so far tested over 9.17 lakh samples for COVID19 at 14 laboratories and screening centres in the state.
