Guwahati, April 01: The Assam government announced localized public holidays during the upcoming three-phase Lok Sabha polls in the state.

Polling is scheduled on April 19, 26, and May 7 in various constituencies across Assam.

On April 19, polling will take place in five constituencies: Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kaziranga, Lakhimpur, and Sonitpur.

Candidates from various parties, including independents, have filed their nominations in these constituencies.

In Kaziranga, the fight is expected to be between incumbent MLA Tasa and former MLA Roselina Tirkey from the Congress.

Sonitpur saw BJP MLA Ranjit Dutta filing his nomination, accompanied by state party president Bhabesh Kalita and AGP’s Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Prasad Baishya.
