Assam, May 30: As the COVID situation improving, the Assam govt might provide some relief in the restrictions post-June 5.
State Government will provide an amount of Rs 3500 per child per month. The state government will get the support from Government of India for this up to Rs 2000 per child per month under the existing scheme.
In the case of girls who are of marriageable age and have lost their parents due to COVID, State Government will extend a one-time financial package towards marriage assistance for such girls. The government of Assam will provide one tola of gold under the Arundhati Scheme and an amount of Rs 50,000 to each girl.
Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that there is improvement in the COVID-19 situation and post-June 5 there might be some relief, however, not major ones. “Expect major relief only after June 15. We will have to re-look after June 5 as the present restrictions are there till June 5.”
There is a curb on inter-district movement. Presently all the shops and commercial establishments are shut by 11 am. There is a total ban on the movement of individuals from 12 noon to 5 AM daily.
In rural areas, all the shops and commercial establishments shut down at 1 PM and the curfew is effective from 2 PM to 5 AM daily.

Under the Chief Minister Sishu Seva Scheme, orphan children below 10 years who do not have extended family/ grandparents/guardians, State Government will take steps to house them in one of the child care institutions and provide adequate funding towards their upkeep and educational expenditure.
Orphaned adolescent girls/ boys will be given accommodation in suitable reputed institutions to ensure their sensitive care and proper protection.
One such institution for girls is Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) residential schools. We will explore other institutions also.
