Guwahati, Jan 09: The Assam Legislative Assembly is gearing up for its budget session, set to kick off on February 5, 2024, as directed by the state Governor, Gulab Chand Kataria.
The official announcement from the Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat signifies the commencement of a crucial legislative period.
The session, scheduled to run until February 28, holds significant importance in Assam’s political landscape. The Finance Minister of the Government of Assam will play the customary role of presenting the state budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 during the proceedings.
This legislative event serves as a platform for outlining the government’s financial planning and priorities for the upcoming year.
Anticipated discussions will cover various aspects, including revenue expenditure, capital outlay, and state loans, with budget allocations for the fiscal year 2023-24 set at 1,11,337, 23,822, and 189, respectively. The total net expenditure is estimated at 1,35,348.
The venue for this session is the Assembly Chamber in Dispur, the largest constituency in Assam with 3.53 lakh voters. Overseeing the proceedings will be the current Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Shri Biswajit Daimary.
