Silchar, Oct 08: A 26-year-old man has been arrested in the Cachar district of Assam for allegedly abducting, raping, and trying to kill a 16-year-old girl. Police stated the suspect changed into indignant with the younger lady due to the fact she had long gone to a Durga Puja pandal with a person else.
The girl’s family stated the suspect attempted to slit her throat, packed her in a bag, and dumped the bag withinside the jungle. But she survived the assault, freed herself, and walked lower back domestic, her garments in tatters. Now she is combating for her life, a member of the family stated.
Police said the accused, Sanjay Teli, was a tea garden worker in the Cachar district and was arrested by officials at Borkhola Police Station on the basis of the girl’s initial statement.

The lady’s own circle of relatives stated she went for Durga Puja on October three and didn’t go back domestic. The following day, they filed a police complaint. Her lower back domestic on October 4 in the afternoon and changed into rushed to the health facility via way of means of her own circle of relatives.
“The complainant alleged that Sanjay Teli kidnapped the lady, took her to a jungle vicinity, and raped her. He tried to kill her via way of means of slitting her throat,” a police officer stated.
Cachar superintendent of police Numal Mahatta stated: “In the investigation, it changed into observed that the lady changed into a dating with the accused. She went to Durga Puja with any other guy, which angered him”.
The officer-in-charge of Borkhola police station, Manmohan Raut said they have found the weapon at Teli’s instance.
Soon after she was admitted to the hospital, the girl briefly jotted down her statement to the police on a piece of paper because she couldn’t speak due to the cut on her throat.
Police stated a greater precise assertion of the girl can be recorded as soon as she recovers.
Her family alleged that the suspect had attempted to damage different ladies withinside the past. “These varieties of human beings need to now no longer be roaming freely”.
