Guwahati, Sep 17: In the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) paper leak case, Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh announced that the Dhemaji Police have solved the case.
The leaked exam paper, which appeared on social media, was traced to Upendra National Academy in Simen Chapori, Dhemaji district.
Mangal Singh Basumutary, a photographer hired by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), reportedly took pictures of the exam paper after the test concluded at 1:30 PM. Basumutary has been detained and confessed to photographing the paper.

His mobile phone has been seized for further investigation. He also shared the images with others, currently being identified by the police.
Dhemaji Superintendent of Police, Hitesh Ch. Roy confirmed that the investigation is ongoing but refrained from sharing further details until it is completed.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism from Assam Congress President Bhupen Borah, who called it a “major failure” of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government.
Borah accused the administration of widespread corruption and claimed the leak exposed deeper systemic issues.
Attempts to reach Education Minister Ranoj Pegu for comment have gone unanswered.
