Guwahati, Aug 30: Assam Police seized 4,728 kg ganja hidden under sheets of natural rubber in a truck coming from a neighboring state on Monday. The incident took place under Karimganj Police station.

A similar incident happened in another part of Assam as well. It has been observed that drug smugglers are now engaging teenage boys to peddle drugs.

One such incident came to light after Noonmati Police apprehended two teenage boys on Monday and recovered 29.2 kg ganja from their possession.
One of the apprehended boys has been identified as Banjiedskhem Umdor (18), son of Meskandar Wahlang of village Tyrsad under Mawngap Police Station in the East Khasi Hills district. The other boy is aged 17 years.
According to police sources, the boys had brought the ganja consignment from Jorabat and they were supposed to deliver it at Khanapara in Guwahati.
However, they took the wrong route by mistake and were apprehended at Forest Gate Tiniali in the city. Besides the ganja, police also seized a vehicle bearing registration number ML-05-H-3369 from their possession.
