Assam Rifles busted a hideout of NSCN-KK and apprehended two NSCN-R insurgents, recovered arms-ammu in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district

Guwahati, June 20: Troops of Assam Rifles had busted a hideout of the Naga insurgent group Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khole-Kitovi (NSCN-KK) and apprehended two insurgents of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R) in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district in two separate operations and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.

The troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Indian army in a joint operation with Arunachal Pradesh police apprehended two insurgents of NSCN-R near Kangkho area in Changlang district June 19.

Based on a specific input about the presence of insurgents in the area, the security personnel had launched an operation and apprehended two insurgents and they were identified as Thungsam Ngemu and Wangphik Khohoi.

The apprehended insurgents are suspected to be involved in extortion activities for the faction in the district.

The security personnel had recovered one point 22 Pistol, one 7.65 mm pistol and seven live rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones in possession from them.

The apprehended insurgents along with recovered arms, ammunition were handed over to Changlang police station for further investigations.

Guwahati based Defence PRO Lt. Colonel P Khongsai said that, in a separate operation, the troops of Assam Rifles with the help of Arunachal Pradesh police had launched an operation at near Jangji Havi area in Changlang district and busted a hideout of NSCN-KK.

Security personnel had recovered one point 22 rifle, one 7.65 mm pistol, 10 rounds of live ammunition and other warlike stores from the area.
