Agartala, Feb 15: Assam Rifles intercepted a major drug haul in Tripura, seizing a staggering 434 kilograms of marijuana valued at Rs 1.736 crores.

The operation unfolded in the General Area Churaibari, falling under the jurisdiction of Churaibari Police Station in North Tripura District. It was launched following credible intelligence, prompting a collaborative effort between Assam Rifles and Churaibari Police Station.

The contraband was discovered concealed within the compartments of a truck, which was promptly intercepted.

The vehicle was operated by a suspected drug peddler who has since been apprehended. Both the seized narcotics and the detained individual have been transferred to Churaibari Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
