Assam Rifles jawan

Bishnupur, May 13: An Assam Rifles jawan was injured while defusing a bomb in Manipur’s Bishnupur district, adding to the growing list of attacks on security forces in the region.

The incident occurred on Friday morning at Saitan village, about 60 km south of Imphal. According to a defence spokesperson, the improvised bomb was locally fabricated, and the soldier, who was attempting to defuse it, did not suffer major injuries.

This is not the first time that security forces have been targeted in the region. On Thursday, a policeman was killed and four others injured when suspected militants opened fire at them near Tera Khongfangbi in Bishnupur district. The attack was another reminder of the volatile situation in Manipur, which has seen a spate of attacks on security forces in recent years.

Earlier on Wednesday, an Assam Rifles jawan was injured when unidentified miscreants fired upon a patrol party of the paramilitary forces at Dolaithabi in the Imphal East district. Such incidents highlight the challenges faced by security forces in the region, where militants often target them in an attempt to destabilize the region.

The security forces have been engaged in a long-standing battle with militants in Manipur, who have been demanding greater autonomy for the state. The militants have been using improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to target the security forces. Such IEDs are often made from locally available materials and can be difficult to detect and disarm, putting the lives of security personnel at risk.

The incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining high levels of vigilance in the region. The authorities need to take effective measures to counter the activities of militants and ensure the safety of security personnel. The use of advanced technology and intelligence-gathering techniques can help the security forces in identifying and neutralizing potential threats before they can cause harm.

The recent incidents in Manipur underscore the challenges faced by the security forces in maintaining law and order in the region. It is crucial that the authorities take effective measures to tackle the issue of militancy and ensure the safety of the people and security personnel in the region. The use of advanced technology and intelligence-gathering techniques can play a critical role in preventing such incidents from occurring in the future.
