Assam Rifles troopers recover 136 kgs of gun powder in Mizoram

Mizoram, May 26: A major tragedy seems to have been averted as a whopping 136 kilograms of gun powder has been recovered by the Assam Rifles troopers in Mizoram.

The consignment of gun powder was recovered by the Lunglei Battalion of Assam Rifles from Longpuighat in Mizoram.

The Assam Rifles said in a statement that “In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 136 kg Gun Powder, in general area Longpuighat of Vaseikai Village on 25 May 2021.”

After getting the lead, the operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Local cops.

One person has also been apprehended by the Assam Rifles troopers in connection with the recovery.

The apprehended person has been “handed over to Police Station Vaseikai along with recovery for further legal proceedings.”

Ongoing smuggling of illegal goods is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram,” the Assam Rifles said.
