Assam: School declared containment zone after teachers test positive for Covid19

Assam, Feb 22: Guwahati’s Don Bosco School has been sealed off and declared as containment zone for seven days after several teachers tested positive for Covid19. In an order issued, Kamrup Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu declared the entire school premises as “containment zone” till February 27 to prevent further spread of coronavirus among the teaching staff and students.

In view of detection of Covid19 positive teachers at Don Bosco School, Guwahati, of Kamrup Metropolitan district, Assam in the interest of the maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of Covid-19 virus amongst the teaching staff and students, the entire area of the school premises is declared as a containment zone for next seven days,” the order said.

Any movement of any unauthorized individual and vehicle within the notified area is also prohibited with immediate effect,” the order said. All the teachers of the school have been directed to be present on Monday for Covid-19 testing to be carried out by the Health Department, it said.

Meanwhile, the government has ordered strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols in the state following the detection of 25 fresh cases in the past 48 hours. Assam reported no death due to Covid-19.

Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua has issued an order saying that Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines for surveillance and containment would come into force in the state immediately.

According to Health Ministry data, 1,55,054 heath care and frontline workers of the state have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine while 11,118 beneficiaries have received the second dose so far.
