Karimganj, Jan 10: Anticipating “disturbance” after the murder of a 16-year-old Bajrang Dal activist on Sunday evening, the Karimganj district administration in Assam has imposed Section 144 in parts of the district.

One Animul Haque has been arrested in connection with the murder of Sambhu Koiri, who become returning home from a three-day Bajrang Dal training camp in the neighboring Hailakandi district.

According to a police officer, there had been an earlier personal fight between the accused and the victim. The incident took place in the district’s Lowairpoa, around 50 km from Karimganj town.

On Monday evening, a prohibitory order become issued from the Office of the Karimganj Deputy Commissioner, ordering the closure of Lowairpoa Bazar till in addition orders and prohibiting processions, rallies, dharnas, sloganeering, distribution of pamphlets, banners, and posters “attracting breach of public peace and tranquility” withinside the district in reference to the incident.
