Guwahati, Nov 11: Dilip Sarma, a prominent leader of the Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC), resigned as the party’s state media chairperson and promptly met with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday.

Following the public disclosure of his resignation letter, Sarma engaged in discussions with the Chief Minister, sparking rumors that he may be considering joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Dilip Sarma, a seasoned leader within the Trinamool Congress in Assam, taking such a significant step has raised eyebrows and led to conjectures about his potential switch to the BJP.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on X and said I have always stressed that those who want to work for Bharat and Assam have no place in dynastic and family-centric parties as only BJP works in the interest of the nation. I welcome those who will be joining the party today in their goal of serving Maa Bharti.”

Simultaneously, Paritush Roy, the working president of the Assam Youth Congress, also tendered his resignation from the party. Roy has expressed his inclination to align with the saffron camp, further contributing to the evolving political dynamics in the region.
