Guwahati, July 05: Amritpal Singh, leader of ‘Waris Punjab De’ and newly elected Member of Parliament from Khadoor Sahib, Punjab, is poised to officially assume his parliamentary duties today.
Contesting independently in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Singh achieved a resounding victory over Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira, securing the parliamentary seat with an impressive margin of 1,97,120 votes.
Previously detained as a radical Sikh preacher, Singh was held in Dibrugarh jail and has now been transferred to Delhi for his parliamentary swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for today.
