Itanagar, May 13: Asum Tamut, hailing from Lileng village in Siang District, emerged victorious by clinching a Gold medal at the 7th National Mixed Martial Arts Championship hosted at the Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium in Raipur, Chattisgarh.
In the final showdown of the MMA Senior Female Strawweight 52.2 kg category, Tamut triumphed over her formidable opponent, Priyanshi Baghel, representing Chhattisgarh.
Born to Taying Tamut and Oseng Jerang Tamut, Tamut has dedicated herself to refining her skills at the Abrasumente MMA Academy in Itanagar.
Under the expert guidance of coaches Higio Tarak and Ning Gogoi, she has tirelessly honed her craft, resulting in this remarkable achievement.

Tamut’s victory was not the sole triumph for Arunachal Pradesh at the championship. Yumter Taipodia, Tadar Righi, and Kamjo Taku also showcased their prowess by securing bronze medals in their respective weight categories.
Additionally, the state was represented by Hakin Taku and Kago Tamang, who participated in the 52 kg and 56 kg divisions respectively.
