Entertainment, Dec 30: Shiladitya Bora’s debut film, “Bhagwan Bharose,” has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first Indian film ever selected for the prestigious Snowdance Independent Film Festival in Essen, Germany.
The film, featuring a talented cast including Vinay Pathak, Satendra Soni, Sparsh Suman, Manu Rishi Chadha, Masumeh Makhija, and Shrikant Verma, has garnered recognition for its independent and free-thinking approach.
The Snowdance Independent Film Festival is renowned for showcasing productions made with minimal or no state funding, emphasizing films not dominated by the influence of major studios or TV stations.
It is considered the primary German festival for authentic independent cinema, supporting filmmakers who embody a true spirit of independence.

Director Shiladitya Bora expressed his excitement about the selection, stating, “Snowdance has been a beacon for authentic independent cinema, a festival I’ve avidly followed.”

The film’s recognition at Snowdance adds to its list of achievements, having recently been selected as the closing film for the 9th Jaffna International Cinema Festival in Sri Lanka.
Additionally, “Bhagwan Bharose” is set to be screened at the Honolulu Museum of Art (HoMA) in Hawaii at the Doris Duke Theatre, marking another significant milestone.
Shiladitya Bora highlighted the film’s compelling narrative and quality, stating that the selection at Snowdance is not just an accolade but a testament to the film’s excellence.
The festival boasts a distinguished jury, including industry professionals such as Torben Schiller, Sales Director at Universal Pictures International Germany GmbH, and acclaimed actress Nina Proll, among others.
For those unfamiliar with the film, “Bhagwan Bharose” revolves around the characters Satendra Soni and Sparsh Suman, two young individuals whose perspectives on faith undergo constant questioning and evolution in the face of their expanding world and the rapidly changing socio-political landscape of their country.
The movie features original music by Indian Ocean, pioneers of the fusion rock genre in India, known for their contributions to films like “Peepli Live” and “Masaan.”
