3. The political landscape in Sagalee undergoes a significant shift with the BJP’s emergence as a formidable contender.

Itanagar, March 18: In a noteworthy political shift, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate has emerged as a formidable contender in the traditionally Congress-dominated constituency of Sagalee in Arunachal Pradesh.

This area has been under the stronghold of former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki for six consecutive terms since 1994.

The BJP’s nomination of Er Ratu Techi, a retired Superintendent Engineer from the Public Works Department, has attracted an influx of Congress workers and leaders who have switched allegiance to the BJP.

Techi’s selection received a warm reception in Sagalee town, marking a significant departure from the region’s political landscape previously dominated by Tuki.

The recent resignation of Tuki from his role as President of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress further adds to the political upheaval.

Tuki intends to return to grassroots politics and confront the challenge posed by Techi, a local candidate from Nimte in the Sagalee constituency.

Despite Tuki’s longstanding influence in Sagalee, Techi’s emergence as a strong competitor indicates shifting political dynamics in the region.

In a media interaction, Ratu Techi emphasized the role of the ruling party in driving development and urged voters to support the BJP for the rapid progress of Sagalee.

Despite being a fervent Christian, Techi clarified that the BJP does not discriminate against minorities or Christians.

He highlighted the lack of development in Sagalee compared to other constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh, stressing the need for improved educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and infrastructure.

While acknowledging Nabam Tuki’s integrity, Techi criticized his affiliation with the Congress, attributing it to the sluggish pace of development in the region.

He expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Pema Khandu, advocating for a change in leadership to accelerate progress in Sagalee.
