Dibrugarh, March 21: Anticipation mounts as BJP’s Sarbananda Sonowal gears up to submit his nomination for the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha Constituency on March 26, with Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma expected to accompany him.

Likewise, Asom Jatiya Parishad’s Lurinjyoti Gogoi is also slated to file his nomination on the same day, while Aam Aadmi Party candidate Manoj Dhanowar is scheduled to follow suit on March 27.

All three contenders secured their nomination forms on Wednesday, with the final date for nominations set for March 27.

As the Election Code of Conduct takes effect nationwide following the Lok Sabha election schedule announcement, Assam’s Chief Electoral Officer, Anurag Goel, disclosed critical details during a press briefing in Dispur on March 17.

The Assam elections will unfold in three phases to ensure a transparent and orderly democratic process. The first phase is earmarked for April 19, with the official election notification slated for release on March 20.

Nominations must be filed by March 27, followed by scrutiny on March 28 and withdrawal by March 30.

Phase two of the electoral journey is scheduled for April 26, with notifications issued on March 28, nomination submissions due by April 4, scrutiny on April 5, and withdrawal by April 8.

The third and final phase of Assam’s electoral saga will unfold on May 7, with notifications issued on April 12, nominations due by April 19, scrutiny on April 20, and withdrawal by April 22.
