Bhubaneswar, April 07: Lekhasri Samantasinghar, the Vice President of BJP in Odisha, has resigned from her position. She announced her decision to join BJD ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha.
In her resignation letter addressed to Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal, Lekhasri said that she decided to quit and the BJP failed to earn the trust of the leadership.
She has given her sweat and blood to the Bharatiya Janata Party for the last ten years. However, despite all the sincerity and hard work, she could not earn the trust of the leadership.

Lekhasri is the second vice president after Bhrugu Baxipatra to resign from the BJP.
She said she realised that she had no place in the party, And on Sunday joined the BJD in the presence of party MPs Manas Mangaraj and Sasmit Patra.
On Saturday, a senior party leader and former minister, Raghunath Mohanty, resigned from BJP. BJD has not yet announced the candidate for the Balasore Lok Sabha seat. She might consider vying for a ticket to contest from that constituency.
The BJD in 2019 had fielded seven women candidates for the 21 Lok Sabha seats in the state. This time, the party has nominated only six women candidates so far.
