Kolkata, Feb 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district to meet with women from Sandeshkhali who have alleged sexual violence by TMC leaders, according to the state’s Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari.
Adhikari revealed in a media interview that preparations are underway for PM Modi’s visit, with final dates to be confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Office. Sources suggest that the visit is scheduled for March 7 in Barasat, North 24 Parganas.
Additionally, Adhikari himself plans to visit Sandeshkhali on Tuesday after receiving permission from the Calcutta High Court.

He intends to be accompanied by four to five MLAs. Adhikari sought court intervention after being barred by police from visiting the village twice last week.
The BJP’s state unit has criticized the ruling TMC over the Sandeshkhali issue, alleging that Hindu women are being targeted and sexually assaulted by “goons.”
BJP MP Locket Chatterjee, in a press conference in Delhi, claimed that women who spoke out about the assaults were subsequently subjected to looting of their homes.
These statements came following West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s remarks on the Sandeshkhali unrest, where she suggested that the incident was orchestrated, placing blame on the BJP and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for scripting it.
