Agartala, March 29: Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura’s Unakoti district seized approximately 221.96 grams of suspected brown sugar worth ₹1.10 crore from a train traveling from Silchar to Agartala.
The seizure was made during a Special Operation launched by a team of BSF on Tuesday afternoon at the Kumar Ghat railway station after receiving specific input. The suspect managed to escape taking advantage of the crowd of passengers.
According to the BSF, the estimated value of the seized brown sugar is approximately ₹1,10,98,000 crore in the international market. The BSF is relentlessly working to make society drug-free by enforcing the rule of law, and the seizure of drugs is a decisive step in that direction. Vigilant BSF troops deployed on the extreme frontiers of the country in Tripura are effectively guarding the international border and seizing various contraband items regularly from the bordering areas.
The BSF is fully committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from Tripura and making it a drug-free state. Resultantly, the BSF has been conducting a special drive against trans-border smugglers, particularly of narcotics and drugs, and succeeding in neutralizing them at regular intervals independently as well as in close association with other sister agencies.
