Imphal, Nov 22: Forces in Manipur carried out extensive searches in the vulnerable areas of Imphal East district on November 21. The operation proved fruitful, resulting in the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.

The recovered items included two arms, specifically a .303 Country-made rifle and a Country-made 9mm pistol with a magazine. Additionally, 14 rounds of live ammunition were seized, consisting of 7.62 mm live ammunition (2 rounds), 9mm live ammunition (3 rounds), and 12-gauge ammunition (9 rounds).

Further discoveries comprised 21 blank fire .303 ammunition, six explosives, including three No 36 Indian Hand Grenades and three No 80 hand grenades, along with 11 Mini flares of 16 mm in red, one 51 mm para illuminating bomb, and a tube launching 1A.

These search operations were strategically carried out in the districts of Thoubal, Kakching, and Kangpokpi. The comprehensive sweep targeted fringe and vulnerable areas to mitigate potential threats and maintain security in the region.

The recovery of such a significant arsenal highlights the ongoing efforts of security forces to curb illicit activities, prevent the proliferation of arms, and ensure the safety and stability of the Imphal East district in Manipur.
