Kolkata, Nov 30: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated coordinated raids on Thursday at the residences of several Trinamool Congress leaders, including an MLA and two councillors, as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities in school recruitment in West Bengal.

Jafikul Islam, the MLA representing Domkal in Murshidabad district, along with Bappadittya Dasgupta, a Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) councillor, and Debraj Chakraborty, a councillor in Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, were among those targeted in the raids. The CBI conducted searches at seven locations as part of the ongoing investigation into the teachers’ recruitment scam.

The raids are not limited to a specific area, covering various locations in and around Kolkata, Murshidabad, and Cooch Behar districts. The CBI is focused on examining the alleged involvement of Trinamool Congress leaders in irregularities related to school job appointments.

An official statement from the CBI confirmed the ongoing raids and mentioned that they are questioning individuals whose homes and offices are being searched.
