₹75 coin

New Delhi, May 26: In honor of the upcoming inauguration of the new Parliament building, the Union Finance Ministry has announced the launch of a new ₹75 coin. This special coin will serve as a symbol to mark the historic occasion and will be made available to the public.

The much-anticipated inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be held on May 28, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi officiating the event.

According to the notification issued by the Ministry, the ₹75 coin will have a circular shape with a diameter of 44 millimeters. Its composition will be a quaternary alloy, consisting of 50 percent silver, 40 percent copper, 5 percent nickel, and 5 percent zinc. The coin has been meticulously designed to capture the essence of the momentous occasion.

The face of the coin will prominently feature the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar at its center, symbolizing strength and unity. Below the emblem, the words “सत्यमेि जयते” (Satyameva Jayate), which translate to “Truth Alone Triumphs,” will be inscribed. On the left periphery of the coin, the word “भारत” (Bharat) will be displayed in Devnagri script, representing India, while on the right periphery, the word “INDIA” will be inscribed in English.

The reverse side of the coin will showcase a captivating image of the new Parliament complex, highlighting its architectural grandeur. The upper periphery will bear the inscription “Sansad Sankul” in Devanagari script, denoting the Parliament Complex, while the lower periphery will display the words “Parliament Complex” in English.

As the nation eagerly awaits the inauguration, there has been some controversy surrounding the event. Nineteen opposition parties, along with the AIMIM separately, have collectively decided to boycott the ceremony.

Their decision stems from the perception that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to exclusively inaugurate the new Parliament building disregards the significance of President Droupadi Murmu’s role and undermines the high office of the President, thereby violating the principles of the Constitution.

Nevertheless, the launch of the ₹75 coin stands as a significant moment, encapsulating the historic event of the new Parliament building’s inauguration. It serves as a testament to the rich heritage and democratic values of India, celebrating the unity and progress of the nation.

The new ₹75 coin will not only be a collector’s item but also a reminder of this momentous milestone in the country’s parliamentary history. It will be cherished by citizens and numismatists alike, as a tangible representation of the enduring spirit of democracy and progress in India.
