Bengaluru, Aug 23: Isro’s third lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 made a soft landing on the Moon on Wednesday. With this, India joined the short list of countries in the world to land a rover on the Moon. Celebrations broke out across the nation after the Chandrayaan-3 lander module succeeded in soft landing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called it a “historic movement” and said it had sounded the “bugle for a developed India”.

  • Vikram is sailing smoothly as it enters the attitude hold phase. It has aced the rough breaking phase, which was to reduce its horizontal velocity. It has come down significantly. Telemetry indicates the landing process is nominal.
  • All looks good, Vikram’s lander is moving smoothly and speed has come down to 1150 meters per second. It has now covered three kilometers of altitude and is flying at just over 27 km above the Moon.
  • Vikram lander to cover 700 km in powered descent phase

  • Chandrayaan-3 has covered 191 km horizontally as it is now in landing phase.
  • Chandrayaan-3’s landing process has begun and the data looks good. Mission Control confirms Spacecraft is in the rough breaking phase.
