Itanagar, June 23: A cloudburst on Sunday morning led to multiple landslides and a flood-like scenario in Itanagar, according to officials.

Despite heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh in recent weeks, conditions had improved over the past two days with no rain forecasted for Sunday, officials reported.

Around 10:30 am, the cloudburst triggered landslides across various parts of Itanagar and nearby areas. Additionally, sections of NH-415 experienced flooding, causing significant disruption along this vital route.

Numerous vehicles were stranded on the highway, crucial for the state capital’s connectivity, noted an official from the Disaster Management Department.

Authorities advised residents against entering riverbanks and landslide-prone zones. People were urged to relocate to safer locations due to the persistent heavy rains.

To assist, the district administration established seven relief camps across the affected areas, officials confirmed.
