Ayodhya, Dec 02: Ayodhya’s Ram Temple consecration date has been officially set for January 22, 2024, more than three years after Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone.

Over 6,000 invitations are being dispatched to guests, including priests, donors, and various political figures, for the grand ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s holy town.

The temple’s construction commenced following the Supreme Court’s 2019 verdict on the Ayodhya dispute, and the Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust was established by the Centre to oversee the decisions related to the construction.

The consecration ceremony will witness the participation of prominent figures such as Prime Minister Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with priests and saints from across the country.

Before the grand opening, the Uttar Pradesh government plans to organize recitations of Akhand Ramayan and Hanuman Chalisa in major temples across the state from January 14 to 22, creating a spiritual ambience for the auspicious occasion.

The ceremony’s elaborate plans include the installation of the idol of Lord Ram inside the Ram Mandir on January 22, marking the culmination of years of anticipation. The event will feature a series of religious programs outlined by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and the state government.

The construction of the Ram Mandir commenced on August 5, 2020, following the foundation stone-laying ceremony by Prime Minister Modi. The architectural design, crafted by the Sompura family of Ahmedabad in 1988, underwent slight modifications in 2020. The temple’s construction is a historic moment and a fulfilment of a longstanding aspiration for many devotees.

In a special cultural gesture, Thailand is contributing soil to the Ramjanmabhoomi, adding to the earlier symbolic gesture of sending water from two rivers in Thailand for the consecration of Lord Ram’s temple. This international participation reflects the global significance of the Ram Temple and its resonance across cultures.
