Northeast rainfall

1. IMD forecasts continued intense rainfall in Northeast India until Monday.

Weather Update, March 31: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts continued intense rainfall across Northeast India until Monday.

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, with the possibility of very heavy falls specifically over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya on Sunday.

Scattered to widespread light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is forecasted to persist in Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim until the 5th of the following month.

Additionally, light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, is anticipated over Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh on Sunday.

The IMD also warns of heat waves and warm night conditions prevailing over central and peninsular India for the next five days.

Maximum temperatures in many parts of Central and East India are expected to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next two days.

Meanwhile, in Delhi, the weather department forecasts partly cloudy weather with gusty winds.

The maximum temperature in the national capital is projected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius during the daytime on Sunday.
