Former Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan, accused in the Sandeshkhali attack, was arrested after being on the run for two months.

Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam expressed concern over the allegations, stating even if 1% were true, it would be shameful for Bengal, the self-proclaimed safest state for women.

The court was informed that some grabbed lands are being returned, but the process lacks transparency, and women are reportedly facing torture.

Sheikh Shahjahan was remanded to ED custody till April 13 for alleged money laundering in Sandeshkhali’s pisciculture business.
