COVID19 vaccine ‘shortage’ hits several districts of Assam

Assam, April 10: Amid the surge in the Covid19 cases, Assam has reportedly faced a shortage of vaccine, with officials confirming that the existing stock would exhaust in two to three days.

Currently, the State has around 2.70 lakh doses of vaccine.

Assam government serve notice which says, “I would like to inform that due to acute shortage of COVID 19 Vaccine only second dose of the COVID 19 vaccine (Covishield / Covaxin) will be given in the Covid Vaccination centre (CVC) from 10th April 2021 onwards. No first dose of COVID 19 Vaccines (Covishield / Covaxin) will be given until further order.”

The fact that the existing stock has been already distributed to the districts has also caused inconvenience, with the number of people vaccinated varying from district to district and site to site.

The doses are now being re-allocated to keep the sites functioning.

Till Thursday, 11.80 lakh people have received the first dose in the State and 2.23 lakh have been administered the second.
