Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal under house arrest since his return after visiting farmers

Delhi, Dec 8: The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi has alleged that CM Arvind Kejriwal has been put under a virtual house arrest since he returned after visiting the farmer’s protest at the Singhu border on Monday. All meetings of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal have been cancelled.

On the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs, police have placed the three mayors of the municipal corporation of Delhi on dharna outside the main gate of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence. Citing this dharna, police have barricaded Kejriwal’s residence, AAP leaders have said.

AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj has said, “Our MLAs are also not being allowed to meet the CM. We will march to the CM’s house and meet him and get him out of the house so that he can stand with the farmers.”

However, Delhi Police sources have refuted the charges. DCP North has said the allegations are a lie and baseless. “Our force is stationed there. Arvind Kejriwal left at 8 pm yesterday and also after 10 pm,” the officer has said.

Saurabh Bhardwaj has further alleged, “CM met farmers at Singhu border yesterday. He had said that we’ll serve them like ‘sevadars‘ and support them. After he returned, Delhi Police barricaded his residence from all sides, putting him in a house-arrest like situation, at the behest of the home ministry.”

“No one is allowed to go inside, he is not allowed to come out. MLAs who had a meeting with the CM yesterday were beaten up by the police when they went to meet him. Workers were not allowed to meet him either. BJP leaders are being made to sit outside his residence,” said Bhardwaj.
