Varanasi, Nov 27: Diplomats and ambassadors from over 70 countries have gathered in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, to witness the annual Dev Deepavali on Kartik Purnima. The dignitaries will also experience a cruise on the Ganges River and witness the Ganga Arti.

In addition to the ambassadors, 150 other foreign delegates are expected to partake in the festivities of Dev Deepavali, where crowds gather from Assi Ghat to Namo Ghat along the Ganges River banks. The delegates received a warm welcome with cultural programs performed by folk artists upon their arrival.

For the security of the Dev Deepavali event, 20 watch towers have been erected along the riverbanks in Varanasi. Each watchtower will be manned by two guards equipped with wireless sets, dragon lights, and PA systems.

An inspector will oversee the watchtowers set up at seven major ghats, including Assi, Dashashwamedh, and Namo Ghat.

To reinforce security, the Commissionerate has deployed eight Deputy SPs, six Inspectors, 70 Sub Inspectors, 680 Head Constable-Constables, five Company PACs, and one ATS Commando from outside the city. A bomb disposal squad will also be on standby to ensure the safety and security of the event from Sunday to Tuesday.
