Tura earthquake

Tura, Dec 21: An earthquake of magnitude 3.3 on the Richter scale occurred near Tura in Meghalaya in the wee hours of Wednesday, the National Center for Seismology said. The depth of the earthquake was 10 km below the ground.

According to the NCS, the movement of tectonic plates under the earth’s surface was felt around 5:40 am 37 kilometres east northeast of Tura.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:3.3, Occurred on 21-12-2022, 05:40:00 IST, Lat: 25.80 & Long: 90.76, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 64km ENE of Tura, Meghalaya,” tweeted National Center for Seismology.

No casualties have been reported so far due to the earthquake. National Center for Seismology (NCS) is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country.
