Itanagar, Dec 01: Arunachal Pradesh achieves another milestone in its mission to provide clean tap water as Chief Minister Pema Khandu proudly announces the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ status for the East Kameng district. This designation signifies that every household in the district now has access to safe tap water, marking a significant achievement in the state’s commitment to improving water accessibility.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu commended the dedicated team working in the challenging terrains of Arunachal Pradesh, acknowledging their tireless efforts to ensure residents have access to safe drinking water. The certification reflects the perseverance demonstrated in overcoming geographical obstacles and enhancing the quality of life for the people of East Kameng.

The ‘Har Ghar Jal’ certification for East Kameng district, dated 27/11/2023, is a crucial step towards realizing the objectives of the Har Ghar Jal Scheme. This scheme, integral to the Jal Jeevan Mission initiated by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, aims to provide every household in the country with access to piped water connections.

Translated as “water in every home,” the term ‘Har Ghar Jal’ encapsulates the overarching goal of the mission. Since its launch, the scheme has witnessed a commendable progress rate of 64%, significantly increasing the percentage of households in India with access to piped water connections.

The comprehensive efforts under the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ scheme go beyond individual households. The initiative includes the installation of water connections in rural schools, anganwadis, and community buildings, ensuring that the benefits of safe tap water reach every corner of society.
