Imphal, Nov 25: Churachandpur district in Manipur witnesses an emergency shutdown as the Kuki Student Body initiates a flash bandh to pay homage to the martyrs amid ongoing violence in the region. The call for the shutdown comes in response to the recent killing of Khupminthang Haokip, a 21-year-old, who lost his life while on duty in the Kuki village of Joupi, Kangvai Sub-division. He was the only son of a widowed mother.

The flash bandh is a prelude to a ceremony dedicated to honoring Khupminthang Haokip, reflecting the somber mood prevailing in the district due to the recent acts of violence.

The mourning extends to other victims as well, including Thangminlun Hangshing and IRB personnel Henminlen Vaiphei, who fell prey to the aggression of a Valley-Based Insurgent Group in the Kangchup area. This incident follows a previous attack on September 12, which claimed the lives of three Kuki-Zo individuals.
