Imphal, April 25: Security measures are robust for the second phase of polling in Manipur’s Outer region on April 26. With 857 polling stations set up, authorities deployed 87 paramilitary companies and over 4,000 state police personnel to ensure safety.
Chief Electoral Officer Pradeep Kumar Jha confirmed 857 polling stations, including nine special ones, for the upcoming phase. Security includes 87 paramilitary companies and state police, emphasizing fair voting.
Efforts towards gender inclusivity are evident, with 191 polling stations exclusively managed by women. The decision for two-phase polling in Outer Manipur addresses security concerns amid historical ethnic tensions.

Following Inner Manipur’s initial phase, the remaining areas of Outer Manipur will vote in the second phase. Re-polling in 11 Inner Manipur stations ensured fairness after violent incidents.
Outer Manipur, currently held by Naga People Front’s Lorho Phoze, sees BJP’s support for NPF’s Kachui Timothy Zimik against Congress’ MLA Alfred K Arthur, part of the INDIA bloc.
Manipur saw a 69% voter turnout on April 19, signaling active democratic participation. The remaining 13 Outer Manipur segments vote on April 26, with results on June 4.
