This response comes in light of recent developments in the Eastern Nagaland region, aiming to address concerns raised and clarify the organization’s stance and intentions.

Firstly, the ENPO reiterated that the public notice published on April 18, 2024, was primarily aimed at preventing potential disturbances in the Eastern Nagaland region and minimizing risks associated with the assembly of anti-social elements.

The organization stressed the importance of maintaining law and order, particularly during a period of Public Emergency, highlighting the voluntary nature of the shutdown initiative undertaken by the people of Eastern Nagaland.

In its communication with the Election Commission of India on April 1, 2024, the ENPO explained that the decision to abstain from participating in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 was based on prevailing circumstances and the sentiments of the Eastern Nagaland populace.

It emphasized that the notice issued on April 18 was intended to ensure the safety and well-being of residents, rather than influence election proceedings.
