Kolkata, May 13: If you are in the mood to go to Thailand this summer but won’t get time off from the office, you can still enjoy the richness of Thai culture and Muay Thai in Kolkata.
The ‘Amazing Thailand Festival’ has returned to Kolkata after a three-year hiatus and is showcasing Thai culture, food, and Muay Thai to Indian tourists.
Organized by the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the festival aims to promote the diversity of Thai culture and attract travelers from Kolkata and the surrounding areas.
The festival offers a range of activities and attractions that highlight the five Fs for which Thailand is famous – Food, Films, Fight (martial arts), Festivals & Fashion.
Visitors can enjoy authentic Thai cuisine, live cooking stations by Thai chefs, workshops on Thai dessert making, and demonstrations of Muay Thai.
Cultural performances are also on offer, providing a first-hand experience of Thai traditions and ways of life.
The festival was inaugurated by H.E. Pattarst Hongtong, Ambassador of Thailand to India, and Ms. Acharepan Yavaprapas, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata.
It is expected to strengthen relations between Thailand and India by promoting Thai culture and offering a glimpse of its essence to Indian tourists.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand is also promoting new destinations like Koh Lipe, Koh Lanta, Khao Yai, Koh Too, and Koh Kradan, encouraging travelers to visit Thailand.
In addition to the South City Mall in Kolkata, five luxury hotels in Kolkata, including JW Marriott, Fairfield by Marriott, The Oberoi Grand, The Park, and The Westin Rajarhat, are participating by organizing Thai Food Week during the same period.
The specially curated Thai menus, such as steamed Bekti, stir-fried soft shell crab, lamb in Panaeng curry, and mango with sticky rice, are available during this Thai Food Week.
