Guwahati, Nov 20: Assam’s acclaimed filmmaker, Utpal Borpujari, has been chosen as a jury member for the upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI), set to kick off in Goa on November 20.

The renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani leads the jury for the best web series (OTT) award category, with Borpujari among the five-member jury panel.

The jury also includes actors Divya Dutta, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and filmmakers Krishna DK, alongside Utpal Borpujari, for the inaugural category focused on recognizing excellence in web series.

This year, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has introduced a new award category, the Best Web Series (OTT) award, at the 54th edition of the film festival. The award aims to honor shows for their “artistic merit, storytelling excellence, technical prowess, and overall impact.”

Utpal Borpujari, a double National Film Award winner, received the Swarna Kamal for Best Film Critic in 2003 and earned national and state film awards in 2018 for his debut feature film, “Ishu.”
