Flyers injured as severe turbulence hits Mumbai-Kolkata Vistara flight

Kolkata, June 7: A Vistara Mumbai-Kolkata flight on Monday encountered severe turbulence during descent. Some passengers were injured and at least three were taken to hospital at the destination for medical examination.

As per the official notification, “Flight UK775 Vistara operating Mumbai-Kolkata on June 7, 2021, encountered severe turbulence 15 minutes before landing. Three passengers aboard a Kolkata-bound flight were critically injured when the plane hit a pocket of air turbulence right before landing. The critically injured were rushed to Charnock Hospital by AAI ambulance & Charnock ambulance.”

Vistara’s Boeing 737-8 (VT-TGE, that was in Jet Airways fleet) operating as UK 775 encountered severe turbulence between flight level 20,000 feet and 17,000 feet.

One elderly person had a dislocated shoulder, while a female passenger had reportedly fractured her right arm. The third injured person, a young man, had bumped his head.

Those who had minor scrapes were sent to their destination after receiving first aid. All other passengers are safe.
