Arunachal Pradesh, Jan 20: Former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Mata Prasad died at a hospital here following multi-organ failure, an official said on Wednesday.

The 95-year-old was admitted to the hospital late on Tuesday night and breathed his last around midnight, a statement issued by the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) said.

Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu shares the news on Twitter, “My condolences on sad demise of former Governor of Arunachal Shri #MataPrasad Ji. In his demise, the country has lost a dedicated and sincere administrator. I pray Lord Buddha for strength to his family to bear the loss. Prayers for the departed soul. Om Shanti!”

 

He was admitted in a serious condition and was put on a life support system but could not be saved despite all efforts, the statement said.

SGPGI Director RK Dhiman said Prasad died following a multi-organ failure. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel condoled the death of Mata Prasad.

He served as minister in the Congress government in UP in 1988- 89 and appointed Governor of Arunachal Pradesh in 1993.
