Itanagar, Dec 19: Former Arunachal State working President of the National People’s Party (NPP), Likha Saaya, has assumed the role of president for Arunachal’s Nationalist Congress Party – Ajit Pawar faction.

Saaya made this move two weeks after resigning from the NPP, citing a lack of authority and support from the NPP central command, particularly in his efforts to strengthen the party in Arunachal.

In his statement, Likha Saaya expressed his initial motivation for joining the NPP, drawn by its pro-northeast ideology and a commitment to serving his constituency and state. However, due to challenges outlined in his resignation, he sought a better alternative, ultimately finding the NCP to be a more suitable choice.

Highlighting the need to lead the NCP Arunachal unit as its state president, Saaya believes he can take full responsibility for developing the party in the state.

His decision stems from the desire to ensure that the hard work of himself and his supporters does not go to waste, particularly in light of perceived shortcomings in the leadership of the party he was previously associated with.

Criticism was directed towards the NPP of Meghalaya, with Saaya accusing its leaders of a lackadaisical attitude towards other northeastern states, neglecting party workers in Arunachal and Manipur.

The shift to the NCP, led by Ajit Pawar, was prompted by the belief that it offers a more serious and supportive environment for political endeavors in the region.
