Imphal, Oct 23: Manipur Police took former Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Manipur unit president, Manoharmayum Barish Sharma, into custody following his alleged involvement in a shooting incident on October 14.
The incident occurred in Kwakeithel Konjeng Haraji Leikai under the jurisdiction of Imphal police station, leaving five individuals wounded, including one woman. Sharma, hailing from Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, was presented before the Imphal West district magistrate on the subsequent Sunday, where he was remanded in custody until October 25.
Sharma now faces multiple charges, including violations of the Arms Act, breaking curfew regulations, criminal intimidation, and attempted murder. The investigation into the shooting incident led to the arrest of three individuals, one of whom is the current vice president of BJYM Manipur Pradesh.
