Guwahati, Oct 17: The Assam Police have seized a big consignment of ganja really well worth Rs 2.4 crore from the Assam-Tripura border, officers stated.

The smuggled materials have been recovered on Saturday night from a truck on the Churaibari check-submit of Assam’s Karimganj district. The consignment became coming from Tripura.

The police have arrested two persons — Parvinder Singh, a resident of Faridkot district in Punjab, and Jewel Hussain, who is living at Sipahijla in Tripura.

The Police stated that the duo became sporting the consignment on behalf of a big smuggling gang.

A senior police officer informed that an 18-wheeler trailer truck loaded with rubber extract in conjunction with packing containers became traveling from Agartala to Delhi through Assam. When the truck reached the Churaibari gate, a complete of tonnes and 4 quintals of ganja have been recovered from 72 drums packed with rubber extract.

The Police claimed that the predicted marketplace price of ganja can be almost Rs 2.4 crore.

The truck became in police custody and thinking maintains of the 2 arrested persons.

Dibakar Gogoi, the police officer who has been investigating the incident, stated that they have got registered a case under the particular phase of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
