High-level committee's report on Assam Accord Clause 6 under examination

Assam, Feb 20: Assam government has said that report of a high-level committee on Assam Accord Clause 6 is under examination of the legal experts. This comes almost a year since the high-level committee on the Assam Accord’s Clause 6 constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs submitted its report of recommendations to the Assam government.

Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told Aajtak/India Today TV that certain recommendations of the high-level committee go contrary to the various verdicts pronounced by the Supreme Court.

The committee itself has said that their report should be examined by a team of legal experts. The committee has also given two years’ time to implement the report,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

The minister also stated that a team of legal experts is now examining the recommendations given by the high-level committee.

The high-level committee on Assam Accord’s Clause 6 headed by retired Justice Biplab Sharma had submitted its report to Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on February 25 last year in Guwahati.
