Guwahati, Aug 31: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on August 31 that the Autumn Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly will be historic, marking significant legislative changes in the state.

Several key bills were passed, aiming to transform various facets of life in Assam.

Among the major legislations is The Assam Compulsory Registration of Muslim Marriages and Divorces Bill, 2024, which aims to curb child marriage. Another crucial bill, The Assam Land and Revenue Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2024, seeks to protect the state’s heritage and historic sites.

Additional notable bills include:

  • The Assam Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Vacancies in Services and Posts) (Amendment) Bill, 2024: Enhances reservation policies for SCs and STs.
