IED blast occurs in Manipur’s Imphal East district, no casualty

Guwahati, Nov 18: A powerful IED blast rocked Manipur’s capital city Imphal on Thursday morning.

The blast occurred at around 4-30 am in front of a shop in the Kairang area in Imphal’s East district.

There is no report of any casualty in the incident.

Following the blast, police personnel led by senior officials were rushed to the spot.

A top official of Imphal East district police said that the IED blast took place in front of a shop owned by Mohamad Tolen in the Kairang area and the area is Muslim dominated area.

There is no report of any human casualty in the incident. Security has been beefed up in the area and search operation is on to nab the culprit,” the top police official said.

No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the detonation.

Security forces are on high alert in Manipur after the deadly terror attack that took place in Churachandpur district along the Indo-Myanmar border on November 13 in which five Assam Rifles personnel including an Assam Rifles Colonel Viplav Tripathi and his wife, 8-year-old son were killed.
