Gangtok, May 20: In a remarkable display of courage and dedication, the Indian Army swiftly responded to a crisis situation caused by heavy torrential rains in the regions of Lachen, Lachung, and Chungthang in Sikkim.

Stranded amidst landslides, 500 tourists found themselves in a precarious situation, but thanks to the proactive efforts of the troops from Trishakti Corps, they were successfully rescued and provided with essential support.

On May 19, as heavy rains relentlessly poured over Lachen, Lachung, and Chungthang, triggering landslides and disrupting transportation, a sense of urgency gripped the region. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the troops of the Trishakti Corps wasted no time and swung into action to rescue the stranded tourists.

With remarkable efficiency and meticulous planning, the Indian Army embarked on a rescue operation that would ultimately save the lives of 500 individuals. Among the stranded tourists were 216 males, 113 females, and 54 children, all in desperate need of assistance.
