Ranchi, Feb 05: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has accused Governor CP Radhakrishnan of being involved in his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.

Speaking in the Jharkhand Assembly ahead of a floor test, Soren claimed that the governor’s office played a role in his arrest on the night of January 31.

Soren, arrested in a money-laundering probe, resigned as Chief Minister before his arrest. Champai Soren, a minister in Hemant Soren’s government, became the new Chief Minister.

Hemant Soren secured special permission to attend the floor test and declared that his party hadn’t accepted defeat.

Addressing the assembly amid slogans in his support, Hemant Soren stated that the BJP doesn’t want a tribal chief minister to complete a five-year term in Jharkhand. He pledged to quit politics if the accusations against him were proven in court.

He challenged the BJP to produce documents proving the alleged land scam charges against him. Chief Minister Champai Soren accused the BJP of attempting to destabilize a democratically elected Jharkhand government.

He emphasized that the country witnessed injustice against Hemant Soren and highlighted the achievements of Hemant Soren’s schemes in every house.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), led by Hemant Soren, had earlier claimed that the governor deliberately delayed Champai Soren’s swearing-in ceremony to provide the BJP with time for horse-trading.

Following the formation of the new government, JMM sequestered its MLAs in a resort in Congress-ruled Telangana, alleging potential poaching attempts by the BJP. The MLAs returned to Ranchi to participate in the floor test.

This political turmoil in Jharkhand revolves around Hemant Soren’s arrest, the subsequent change in leadership, and the accusations of political interference and horse-trading by the opposition parties. The accusations against the governor add another layer of complexity to the unfolding events in the state.
